Day 8 - A Song That You Know All The Words To

This one took awhile to memorize, but I finally got it cause it was just so much fun trying to sing along with him. It's an Evans' favorite. I think most of us know it.

It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that I'll convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection
But I've said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it don't matter who you are
If I'm doing my job then it's your resolve that breaks

Because the hook brings you back
I ain't telling you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

There is something amiss
I am being insincere
In fact I don't mean any of this
Still my confession draws you near
To confuse the issue I refer
To familiar heroes from long ago
No matter how much Peter loved her
What made the Pan refuse to grow

Was that the hook brings you back
I ain't telling you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

Suck it in, suck it in, suck it in
If you're Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn
Make a desperate move or else you'll win
And then begin to see
What you're doing to me
This MTV is not for free
It's so PC it's killing me
So desperately I sing to thee of love
Sure but also rage and hate and pain and fear of self
And I can't keep these feelings on the shelf
I've tried, well, no, in fact I lied
Could be financial suicide
But I've got too much pride inside
To hide or slide
I'll do as I'll decide and let it ride until I've died
And only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little tunes
Of hip three minute ditties
I want to bust all your balloons
I want to burn all of your cities
To the ground, I've found
I will not mess around
Unless I play then hey
I will go on all day, hear what I say
I have a prayer to pray
That's really all this was
And when I'm feeling stuck and need a buck
I don't rely on luck because

The hook brings you back
I ain't telling you no lie
The hook . . .
On that you can rely

Day 7 - A Song That Reminds You of a Certain Event

hmmm.... there are a lot :) But, one that goes back pretty far and reminds me of an event every time I hear it is Pinch Me by Barenaked Ladies. There were some Japanese books that we got from one of our old Japanese students, and one day I was reading one of them while listening to the Barenaked Ladies, and now for some reason this song reminds me of that day I was down there reading it. The book was Doraemon, btw, if anyone wants to go look it up. It was pretty wacky.

That's a live version, and you can go find the other version if you really wanna listen to it. Embedding was disabled. I'm guessing most of you know that song though.

Day 6 - A Song That Reminds You Of Somewhere

okay, I know Nathan already did a song that reminded him of camp, but this song is the ultimate camp song. Every time I hear it I think of Family Camp. It was hard to think of songs that reminded me of other places, cause I normally link songs to events, not to places....

Day 5 - A Song That Reminds You of Someone

Hmmm.... there are lots of songs that remind me of people.... This song reminds me of Shay, because of that part where he sings, "She only drinks coffee at midnight, when the moment is not right. Her timing is quite... unusual." Most of the rest of the song doesn't remind me of Shay though, just that part :P

Day 4 - A Song That Makes You Sad

Nathan took one of the songs I was thinking of, and there are many that I could post, but there's one that I really love and listen to all the time despite the fact that it can send shivers of sadness down my back. It's this one by Fuel, and it's called Bad Day. You could take as her just having a bad day, but the way he sings about her leaving a note and all makes me think it's actually a note saying she's committing suicide. Maybe it means something different, but that's always how I looked at it, and it makes me depressed... After watching the video it actually looks like she dies in the back of the Taxi... either way, it still makes me depressed.

Day 3 - A Song That Makes You Happy

This one was still a bit harder, because there are a lot of songs that make me happy... but since it just said "a song," I just had to pick one so it wasn't too hard. I thought of doing Smiths, and I thought about doing a song by Modest Mouse, but I finally decided on this one. Jacksonville by Sufjan Stevens. Cause who doesn't feel happy watching a bunch of people wearing wings play awesome music?

Day 2 - Your Least Favorite Song

k, this one wasn't as hard, cause I can't think of as many songs I hate because I'm actually really good at avoiding them. I could have done something by Justin Beiber, or I could have done Rebecca Black's song, but instead I want to say that Poker Face by Lady Gaga is probably my least favorite song, just because it is just SO stupid, and for some reason people still love it. Also, I love this video of Jude Law reading it, cause it shows just how ridiculous it is. Christopher Walken reading it is pretty awesome too.

Day 1 - Favorite Song

So, I've been really busy with school, and graduation, and trying to get everything finished up, and I don't wanna take the time to write entire posts at the moment, but there's a "30 Day Song Challenge" thing I saw on Facebook, and since I don't think it will take me as long as normal posts do, I thought I'd do these for now so that my blog doesn't just die, cause I do fully intend to keep posting here when I have more time. For now you just have to deal with small posts though.

So day one of the challenge asks for my favorite song, but since I don't have any 1 favorite song, I thought I'd pick this one, since I've been really into the Counting Crows for awhile now. This is A Long December.
